This painting, Wine and Blood, represents that feeling of wanting something so badly that you end up hurting yourself trying to reach it. The hand keeps holding the grapes even while bleeding, as if the desire is stronger than the damage. I also tried to make the hand look silver, although my lack of experience didn’t let me push the idea as far as I wanted, but I still think it ended up looking good haha. I like the contrast between something usually connected to pleasure or celebration, like wine, and the quiet damage that can exist behind obtaining it.
