This painting originated while I was browsing content on Instagram. In a comedy reel, a couple is arguing: she tells him that he promised to take her to the moon, and he replies that he does not even know how to find his way back home.
That line resonated with me. It expressed a feeling I had experienced before but had not been able to articulate as clearly. The scene appeared romantic on the surface, which led me to decide that this would be a painting created for Valentine’s Day.
I am interested in the fact that the first impression is that of a romantic work, when in reality the intention points the opposite, I guess.
